Welcome to the Polyglossos December newsletter. Every month, I will talk about things happening in my life that are related to Classics learning and some advice for beginners, along with some extra snippets that didn't fit on my Instagram posts this month. This month, however, I decided to put something that I saw in real life that is related to Latin and share it with you.
Happy holidays!
What I'm up to.
Vergil is difficult. It takes a lot of time to get used to, and I'm not there yet.
Advice for Beginners.
Assuming that you have followed my monthly tips while learning Latin either in school or independently, I hope you have at least learned the most common grammar concepts, including but not limited to all of the cases, 1st to 3rd conjugations, and at least the present and imperfect tenses. I am personally not a believer in the "easing one into Latin grammar" approach that some textbooks use, because the fundamentals are important and learning them over a longer period of time realistically has no added benefit. Therefore, with that being said, if the above 3 things still seem unfamiliar, either review it or watch some videos online. Being confident about your grammar abilities is important in the long run.

Did you know?

I am currently in Washington DC, and in the National Gallary of Art there exists the only Leonardo Da Vinci painting in the USA: Ginerva de' Benci. You can find the picture of the front yourself, but this painting is double sided and the back side has a scroll with "virtutem forma decorat" inscribed on it, which literally means "Beauty decorates virtue".
