Advice for Beginners.

Keep reading! You should know enough grammar at this point to tackle some intermediate adapted Latin reading. While doing so, don't forget about learning vocabulary as well. I mentioned that vocabulary is important in the November newsletter last year (https://www.polyglossos.org/post/november-newsletter). Use the vocabulary list at the back of the popular Latin textbooks as these are oftentimes the most helpful at the beginner level.

A well known example of the suspension of the writ of habeas corpus is by Abraham Lincoln, who suspended it to suppress anti-Union thought and actions during the Civil War. This was initially done in Maryland and eventually the rest of the country. The suspension of habeas corpus was one of Lincoln's most controversial actions during his presidency.
