June Newsletter

Welcome to the Polyglossos June newsletter. Every month, I will talk about things happening in my life that are related to Classics learning and some advice for beginners, along with some extra snippets that didn't fit on my Instagram posts this month.

What I'm up to.

I'm learning Ancient Greek again after 3 years in an intensive summer course. I have never taken an intensive course in Latin or Greek, so it's a new experience for me. So far, it's been a decent experience so far, but I still suggest for most people to take it a bit more slowly.

Advice for Beginners.

The summer is here, and it's important to NOT forget everything about Latin. Brush up on grammar forms and read a little. It is also good to preview a bit of the curriculum in the following year too. I suggest working through some magistrula content (magistrula.com). It's free and a good resource for working with grammar review.

Do you know?

"Lorem ipsum" as stated in the post comes from Cicero's De finibus bonorum et malorum. The original line from which led to lorem ipsum was "qui dolorem ipsum, quia dolor sit, amet, consectetur, adipisci velit." The first line of the filler text is "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit". See the similarity? By the way, the word "lorem" is made up, it is the last five letters of dolorem.
