February Newsletter

Welcome to the Polyglossos February newsletter. Every month, I will talk about things happening in my life that are related to Classics learning and some advice for beginners, along with some extra snippets that didn't fit on my Instagram posts this month.

What I'm up to.

Latin Stort Stories: Myth and History for Beginning Latin Students is now printing and will be available soon.

Advice for Beginners.

It's never a bad idea to learn the more advanced grammar concepts early. In December, I mentioned the list of the most fundamental beginner concepts (https://www.polyglossos.org/post/december-newsletter). Building on top of that, now it's a good idea to finish learning all of the declensions, perfect and future tenses, and the locative case. Watch videos on YouTube along with the textbook for easier understanding. My favorite channel is @latintutorial.

Do you know?

Caesar, while being more well known as a dictator prior to his assassination, had some literary fame. Caesar's most famous writing are his commentaries on the Civil War, as shown, and on the Gallic War. Commentaries were official reports that were sent to the senate, and Caesar's commentaries were considered very polished. Caesar also wrote his commentaries in 3rd person, which was uncomon.
