November Newsletter

Welcome to the Polyglossos November newsletter. Every month, I will talk about things happening in my life that are related to Classics learning and some advice for beginners, along with some extra snippets that didn't fit on my Instagram posts this month.

What I'm up to.

The realization of how much of the curriculum we haven't covered yet to meet the AP curriculum standards.

Advice for Beginners.

Now that we have established that grammar is important, don't forget about vocabulary! One of the biggest regrets that I have that I still suffer from the consequences today is not taking vocabulary learning seriously in my early days. Try writing down words that you constantly forget and need a dictionary for and make a list with it. The best online Latin dictionary for general use is Whitaker's Words (https://latin-words.com), and if you understand how to read Lewis and Short (which for Beginners is highly unlikely but still worthy to check out, Perseus Tufts (http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/morph?l=&la=la).

New series! I have decided to make some content on Latin in Christianity. With the mission of making Latin more interesting with these short snippets, I want to highlight the most common instances of Latin found in religious contexts. Here, for example, is the beginning to a prayer and the origins are from Latin. Please feel free to correct me at times, since I'm not Christian.
